I think it's more of a goodwill mission. In the Xanth books, the night mares (get it?) deliver bad dreams, but as a way to guide people onto the correct path.
Nightmares in Xanth are a teaching instrument, and that's how I like to see the Nightmaren. Smile

Ahem.... Silk is a descendent of Wizeman himself. In his thrown room he set 3 crystals (the necklace he wears yellow, blue, and green) are all implanted with his Mishaps with clumsy Nightmarens. (Aka eggs.) When he dies his necklace breaks into descendents of the king of all nightmare himself. The Wizeman in Journey of dreams is just a son who took his name. Silk is a queen of Nightmare. So she can control Reala and NiGHTS and all the others to her will. She hasn't realized this but, In time of her maturity she will grow into the queen of all nightmares and wear the Final Crystal around her neck. In Journey of dreams it showed a scene of after the true ending NiGHTS on the bell tower in the real world. Unknowing that was all it took for the egg to stay into the real world and grow. An so we have Silk today.

An this is my interpretation on this whole thing.

That sounds cool Layla, but I'm afraid it won't work.

JoD is an alternate timeline, and TRS is only about the NiD universe.
And I'm already mature, so there's no more growing for me. Smile

It would be nice if I could control the Nightmaren better, but they never listen to me XD
If not for the contract, they wouldn't be here at all.

Though I'd love to see this concept made into a fanfic, if you're up to it. It sounds fun!

That's just a little rude... maybe she doesn't like you calling her evil, she's never been anything but nice to everyone here, after all.

Anyway to keep this on track,
I'm not convinced about the night mare theory even though Silk was the one who came up with it. Nightmaren are a completely different species, they probably only see humans as a sort of food source. Only they're eating your negative feelings instead of actually eating you.
Maybe The Nightmaren agreed to come over because their food source is easier to find here.

Now everyone drop it, or I'll start deleting posts! No negativity on Christmas Eve, I will not allow it!

Now as for that theory, that's an interesting one. Yes, Nightmare does feed on negativity, but not so much we Nightmaren. We're spawned from Nightmare, so you could argue that negativity is our food too, but a fully formed Nightmaren has no need. We can use that energy, for example to give someone a bad dream, or make a scary feeling. But it's not something that we need.
So no it's not our food source, but yes it does still benefit us somewhat.

I prefer lighter energy though, people are much stronger and more fun when they move past their negativity and focus on their strengths and being positive!

I attually never meant for harm or any sort of offence. It just spilled out of my brain like magic. It is christmas and merry christmas. I'm sorry. I would never make Silk a mean ruler. I always thought of Silk as sassy and nice.. :/ Not sure how to descibe it. Sorry.

Heres an idea!

Silks house is actually one of her Nightopia doors. She just wants to hang put with Nights instead of go adventuring, so they just chill out around there. Reala lies in wait in case plans need foiling, but he got distracted with his show. Jackel came at Realas demmand. Claris and Elliot are relaxing with nights too.

I agree with Silk, these are fun to think about!

But I think that after all this time, NiGHTS and Reala have gotten comfortable and feel more at home in this world. Is that a good or bad thing, though?

Well, I think it's a good thing. They can interact with people more and learn of them as time goes on. Learning is a worth-while experience, after all.

The Maren do have a good disguises when going about the world. No one would ever suspect a plushie. While the form is in their Likenesses from the NID game, it doesn't really matter. Human Imagination when it comes to creativity has no bounds & Plush Toys are universally beloved by Human Children & Adults of all ages.

Er, you're breaking the fourth wall, DR...
Just because I use dolls in the show does not mean that you're supposed to view them as dolls.

It kind of takes away the magic when you can't get into the story enough to pretend they're real.

In TRS, nobody ever sees them besides me, and all of you on this forum.
And we only see them as the actual characters who they are, not as dolls.
