Nope, JoD is an alternate universe. It has no connection to the original game other than using new versions of the same characters.
TRS is about the original game, NiGHTS into Dreams. To us, JoD is just a videogame like any other, and has no impact whatsoever on the series.

Just because so far they've mostly been guesses with no evidence doesn't mean that we don't want to hear your theories.
For example, you've all seen enough of the show by now that you can probably explain the sort of relationship that I have with Silk, right? Let's hear what you think!!

Everyone has their own personal NiGHTS, and someone said during the Ideya event that TRS NiGHTS is Silk's NiGHTS.
Since this seems to be true (can't find the quote, but I know Silk has said as much), I would guess that every character on the show is there because of Silk. Maybe we're all watching her imagination.

That or maybe Silk is actually a gatekeeper between this world and the dream realm. That's kind of a neat thought.

"Reala, after the events of the first game was relaxing, and had an idea to start a show. no one in Nightopia could suit his desires until he arrived at New Jersey (Or whatever state the show is filmed in) and A Girl named Molly/CORNSiLK Had a contract that he liked! but he did not know that he would be doing some crazy stuff, and have his sibling, NiGHTS Join in. and now, he must take on the challanges of Keeping Jackle in order, talking to chickens, and other stuff!" i may explain more in a comic about TRS i may make if i get the O.K from CORNSiLK .

In fact, the contract is the only reason why Reala stays and hasn't attacked me.

I think that the contract is to keep Reala and the others out of trouble while Wizeman prepares for his next conquest.
Which would make Silk an unwitting participant in an evil plot, but maybe the contract doesn't mention this ulterior motive.

Though if I'm right, I wonder how Silk would react if she found out that this was the case?
