TTS! It's not fun when people get hurt!
Though it is kind of funny when they get messy or wet... just so nobody's hurt...

Though I did like that Nick Arcade one where they pretended to zap kids into a videogame... Oh, and that hidden temple one!

And yes, please do explain! That first one looked more like a cartoon...

Knightmare was a game show first aired in 1987 and lasted till 1994. It was a dungeon crawling quest style show with the contestant as the avatar or dungeoneer. The only problem was the dungeoneer was blinded by the helmet he wears so he could only see below him (reason for this is because it's all shot in a blue room the only real things were the player, characters he meets (unless they were in the wall) and objects and tables) To help guide the player were three of his friends who act his guide and spellcasters, watching them on there journey was Treguard the Dungeonmaster who until series 5 was a neutral character nether ally or foe.

The object of the game is reach the end by successfully going through 3 levels. The first series had no quest items to get but by series 2 they were brought in The Sword of Freedom (Sword of Justice originally), Shield of Justice (Shield of Liberty orginally) The Cup that heals, the Crowning Glory, Free the maid and Find the Taliman. Only the Sword, Shield, Cup and Crown were kept for the full remaining series.

The Dungeoneer had a knapsack which contained his lifeforce and in order to keep going he or she needed to put food into it to sustain it, Treguard would often alert the players when there lifeforce was depleting and needed food, by series 4 the Eye Shield was introduced mainly cause the series was branching out to more outdoor areas and it was used to show walking through areas like forest and castles however by in series 5 it was given another use with spyglasses which allowed the player's advisors to observe Lord Fear talk to his minions which often gave clues on how to progress but eventually the player had to put it down when Lord Fear began to sense there presence. By the final series a wand was introduced called Reach which allowed the dungeoneer to press switches from far away. However the number of items they can carry at a time is two no more.

Treguard while did give advice or hint on rare occasions he wouldn't help that much so by season 4 he was given an assitantm, a elf named Pickle who would help the players (even went into the dungeon to save one from being clubbed) much to Treguards annoyance. Pickle by season 7 was replaced by a genie named Majida. By series 5 the characters were split to The Powers that be which were Treguard group finally making him a good guy and The Opposition which were led by Lord Fear who was the main antagonist who often plotted to take down Treguard using schemes like a dragon or an ogre.

While it was a game show it didn't have a new contestant every episode most times by the time the episode end time would freeze until the next episode aired and if it was the last episode the one on the quest was retrieved from it and brought back due to the series ending for that time. Another thing was the sheer difficulty throughout it's 8 seasons only 8 teams won. I mean it if the players do a wrong thing because you didn't get the full help from guessing the answer to the right riddle or pick up a wrong item the game will punish them for it but the player doesn't die he return okay and ready to head home with his or her friends.

in terms of awards for winners it changed throughout it, the first 3 seasons the reward was the Silver Spurs of Squiredom, series 4 had Medallions and the remaining seasons had Frightknight trophies

Edit: Sorry it's a lot to read but there was a lot to talk about not to mention a lot of changes during it's run.
